I am Romanian. I came to this country few months back from the beautiful Transylvanian city of Brasov.
I'd like to share a few words about my work experience. As a student, I worked for the Child Protection Department in my local town. I worked as a teacher in an assessment center - a place which caters for those who need emergency placement on a short-term basis before taking residence in a more long-term center - an orphanage.
During the last 7 years, I've been involved in the running of a Romanian-based charity, which is supported by partners in Northern Ireland. Our work involved offering help to a wide variety of disadvantaged groups; I loved my job - it was a hands-on role, which was very challenging, very demanding but also rewarding.
I felt ready to move on and seek fresh, new challenges, but I also felt I needed a break. As a result, I came to NI. I can't really remember what my expectations were upon arrival - what would I like to do? What would I like to be involved in? - all I know is that I never expected to meet such extraordinary people involved in such exciting activities!
I often say there's nothing creative about me; so you can only imagine how it must feel to be surrounded by so many creative people & artists! My plan is to absorb their talent and enthusiasm and hope that it inspires me and awakens my (currently) dormant creative senses! So now I have the fresh, new challenge I was looking for!
I hold high hopes that the exchange will be mutual - that we will all get involved, work together, create some chemistry, learn together and ultimately put our individual expertise & what we know best into practice for the overall benefit of others.
I recently realised that all my life I never set out to pursue a certain type of job. Through some 'miraculous' circumstances my jobs all chose me - and I was always happy!
This time, with Beyond Skin, the same 'miracle' has happened yet again! I feel that this has happened for a reason - I must have a purpose - a role to fill. I believe that time will tell but I can definately say that I am very excited about the future!
I look forward to putting in all my energy to this role, meeting new people, having new experiences and more - I hope you all are as excited too!

In addition to playing drums I also pass on what I have learned over the years to students at Ossia Music School (Belfast).
I have also become involved with a group of multi-cultural musicians, The Motion Project, which has helped to broaden my taste in music. This has led to performances and cultural education projects through music in schools and communities - which I find to be very rewarding & humbling experiences.
In April 2007 I became a partner in managing the social enterprise, Motion2Music (motion2music.com) which is under the management of registered charity: Beyond Skin (beyondskin.net).
I have had the pleasure of playing with an eclectic mix of many different musicians representing various backgrounds & cultures, in many different environments. It has all been part of one great learning curve!
In October 2008 I took up the role to project manage the Belfast East program, which has since been passed on to new Project Manager, Ms Denis Iliescu - one of the many new additions to the ever expanding Beyond Skin Team and someone who has great enthusiasm and fresh ideas!
I wish her the very best of luck!
