The 'Motion' Project are a multi-cultural music collective based in Northern Ireland that has had representation of artists from many different countries. The Motion Project tour around N. Ireland providing unique world music interactive experiences, programs and performances.
The reason;
The Motion Project aim to address racism, sectarianism in Northern Ireland by showing how our individuality can produce something far more attractive and unique when we work together. Motion provides people with the opportunity for cultural & development education, to hear, play and learn about music from around the world and the chance to meet others from different cultural backgrounds.

The Motion Project are unique from most bands due to the nature of their improvised performances allowing for total creativity in the moment of inspiration. The Motion Project are well known for their interactive nature of getting the audience involved.

Some of the countries so far represented in the Motion Project are: Poland, China, South Africa, Ireland, Venezuela, India, England, New Zealand, Iran, Slovakia, Zimbabwe, Scotland, Sri-Lanka, Mexico, France, Columbia, Switzerland, Nepal, Hong Kong, Zambia and of course N.Ireland.

iME's: (interactive music experience) All Music, All Ages, All Abilities…

The Motion project takes the music workshop in a new direction.
Everyone will experience being part of a band with some of the sessions recorded and available to download from this site and partner organisation's websites. The iME's contain elements of African, Indian, Irish, South Americian, European & other world music cultures tutored by musicians representing these countries.These iME's can also be integrated into the 'Motion Project' live set-up allowing students to play with the full Motion band. iME details here - information pdf



Fees: Due to the fact that each program is specifically tailored to each request, and depending on location facilities regarding pa / amplification conditions and musicians involved, all fees are negotiable. We also run specific funded programs


'Youth in Motion' is a innovative program open to young people with an interest in music. Using the same format as the original Motion Project, participants will work towards recording a professional CD in a unique style of creative recording. Various 'Youth in Motion' programs are running and more are scheduled to take place throughout Northern Ireland. Visit the 'Youth in Motion' webpage for details.
