The Politics of Appearance - Beauty Queens, Music and Activism.

Genesis is a Colombian musician, children's champion, peace activist, and the founder of Genesis Stars Foundation, a school meeting the needs of girls using music in education. Genesis is also a beauty queen, with over 16 crowns to her name recently becoming Miss Grand Colombia. So how does Genesis use her success to protect and empower young women, is it a contradiction to promote the unrealistic expectations of beauty competitions or a useful tool for engagement?

Genesis will visit Northern Ireland 27th November - 4th December. During her time she will be guest speaker and workshop facilitator at schools, clubs and universities in Armagh, Belfast and Mid Ulster. Activities will be part of the #FUTyoURES programme and ArtsDialogue Youth4Peace projects.

An open event in Belfast will take place for people to informally meet Genesis and talk about her work. IBIS Belfast Castle Street, 12 noon Sunday 1st December.

Supported by The Executive Office, Mid Ulster Council, IBIS Belfast City and Escuelas de Paz Colombia.
