South Asian Heritage Month

 South Asian Heritage Month is the name given to the month-long celebration in the South Asian diaspora to celebrate the heritage of people with roots in the South Asian countries of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives. It runs from 18 July to 17 August each year.

NEPAL

Designed by Gita from Nepal, we recreated a remote Nepal village in youth clubs and the young people lived out one day from carrying wood for fire, collecting water, cooking, fashion, games, making art and crafts to sell, music and storytelling.

SRI LANKA

Beyond Skin co-managed an extensive 10 year programme connecting children and young people in Sri Lanka to Northern Ireland through music. Also curated collaborations between Sri Lankan musicians and artists from host communities in Northern Ireland. Please visit www.beyondskin.net/srilanka
